The ITS Group will provide you with the Italian VIA card in order to use
the Italian motorway system. With the VIA card it is also possible to
have an electronic device, called a Telepass unit, which fits inside the
windscreen and does not need wiring. The unit enables vehicles to use
special lanes to avoid stopping at the barrier, where the toll is
registered electronically.
The units are rented from the motorway company, and when ordering the
units you must state the registration numbers of the vehicles that are
to use the units.
TELEPASS units can only be ordered if you have a VIACARD account, and
you will have to use your VIACARD if there are no TELEPASS lanes at the
toll terminal.
A single invoice for all your Italian motorway usage will be issued
monthly, with payment collected by direct debit. The invoice will list
details of each trip by vehicle to enable you to keep track of usage,
and you may receive this information electronically in a variety of
formats to download into your own system if you require. A VAT
admissible invoice will be issued with Italian VAT which we can recover
on your behalf through Quipsound.
